The story behind

It was in the year 2000 that Lára B. Pétursdóttir founded the PCO Congress Reykjavik. By then, Lára had a long and successful career in Icelandic tourism and PCO’s behind her. For the next 15 years, she built Congress Reykjavik’s reputation as a reliable and trustworthy PCO, working closely with associations, committees and companies on the preparation and execution of many of the largest conferences and congresses held in Iceland during the period.

In 2004, Marín Magnúsdóttir founded the event management & DMC company Practical upon returning to Iceland after completing her studies at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, where the business concept evolved. “Be Practical” was the company’s slogan, since Practical’s specialization was in the field of event management, VIP services and incentives for companies and groups of all types and sizes. Practical’s key elements were creativity, fun and collaboration.

In the fall of 2014, Lára and Marín decided to join forces and merged their companies into CP Reykjavik as of January 2015. Today there are 18 full time employees at the company as well as dozens of contractors and collaborators. CP Reykjavik is the only company in Iceland combining these three professional fields under one roof: Conference management (PCO), Event management and Incentives (DMC).

In the spring of 2016, the PCO Your Host in Iceland (Icelandic: Gestamóttakan) was aquired by CP Reykjavik. The company was founded by Ingu Sólnes and Hildi Jónsdóttur in 1996.

In the beginning, the main emphasis was to assist companies and institutions in the process of receiving foreign guests and committees and organizing their visits to Iceland. The services evolved over time into meeting- and conference organization as well as taking care of incentives and events related to the conferences.
